We’re just mere days away from entering the new year of 2017. If you find that you didn’t achieve as much as your wanted to or would have in 2016, fret not as a new year brings about new chances. It’s a good time to reflect back on the past year and make a list of the goals and dreams that you plan to achieve this upcoming year.
1. Make Health Your Priority
Been spending long hours at work with cup noodles and snacks making up for meals? This year, challenge yourself to get active! Take at least half an hour from your busy schedule and break a sweat, may it be at the gym, picking up a sport, or simply taking a leisurely stroll at the park. Your body will definitely thank you for it in the long run.
2. Pick Up A New Hobby
Getting a hobby is a way of relaxing your mind and allowing yourself to do something that you truly enjoy. There’s plenty of hobbies you can pick up, from reading to gardening. Gardening is a great hobby to have as you get some time outdoors, enjoying peace and nature and the little joys in life, like watching a seed grow into a beautiful plant.
3. Take Time To Travel
“I’m just too busy”, “I don’t have any time”. Do you find yourself saying sentences like that often? Then perhaps you should give yourself a break. Travelling is a great way to ease your mind and cultivate creativity and joy through learning other cultures. It’s also a good time to bond with family and friends as your put your busy schedule and work at the back of your mind.
4. Change Your Diet
Weight loss is always a popular new year resolution, but instead of going on an extreme diet, opt for eating healthier instead. There’s no need to starve, simply load up more on healthy greens and fruits, while incorporating protein, healthy fats and unrefined carbs into your daily meals (no harm in rewarding yourself with a little dessert every once in awhile!). Eating healthier is something you’ll learn to love and the pounds will shed on its own naturally.
5. Get Organized
With a busy and hectic schedule, it’s easy to forget a lot of things, from to-do’s to important functions or events. Enjoy a peace of mind by keeping a notebook or journal by your side. It’s the perfect solution so you don’t miss out on anything important, plus it can also serve as a tool for penning down thoughts or sudden flashes of creativity, such as a sketch or poem.
6. Be On Time
In Malaysia, not being punctual is quite a norm but it isn’t something to be proud about. If you find yourself always behind schedule and late for meetings or appointments, then it’s time to take control and be sure to cultivate a habit of being punctual. You will find that your day will feel less rushed and hectic, plus it will put you in a better mood.
7. Get Enough Rest
This is one of the simplest resolutions yet the hardest to keep. We often neglect our body’s basic need for adequate sleep when we’re too busy catching up with work and chasing deadlines. However, if you plan out your time accordingly and allow your body to rest, you will find an increase in productivity and you will definitely feel better and clear-headed. After all, it’s always important to take care of yourself.
We want to thank you for the support you have shown us this year. 2017 is going to be amazing!
